The Bonus Army - Discography

Genre: Hardcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Colin of Arabia, Swamp Thing, Word For Word

Former members of the Carrier playing heavy as fuck hardcore.  Not much of a discography post, but they have earned it.  I mean, come on, almost every band coming out of Boston is fucking amazing.  Get into these guys, not much to say.  Buy merch, buy records, bang your head, and stay in school.  Say no.  Someone write a review for this stuff, I am running out of things to say.  Anyway, their stuff clocks in at less then 20 minutes, and that isn't individually.  So, hey, go out on a limb and download some good ol' raw fucking hardcore.  You won't waste too much time at least, right? Right!

Trapped Under Ice - Discography

Genre: Hardcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Cruel Hand, Reign Supreme, Cold World

I'm from Baltimore, and this is one of my favorite hometown hardcore bands, along with Ruiner.  Everyone who enjoys some good hardcore in the vein of Crown of Thornz, you should check these dudes out.  Buy their merch, check out their shows, and yes, I am dick riding on them because they are from Baltimore.  This discography includes everything they've put out so far, which isn't that much, but it's definitely enough to get you hard.

DEMO: 2007 DEMO (2007)
EP: STAY COLD (2007)
SPLIT: SPLIT w/ DIRTY MONEY (2008)
ALBUM: SECRETS OF THE WORLD (2009)

Trash Talk - Discography

Genre: Hardcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Ceremony, Bracewar, Swamp Thing

This band is fucking cool. I don't have Shame, so I have to upload all the stuff I have individually, sorry guys. Anyway, Trash Talk has been bringing good and honest hardcore since around late 2004, and I'm sure most of you have heard of them. I just went by Last.FM referred artists or whatever, I don't really think Swamp Thing and Trash Talk are all that alike. If you like hardcore, you will like them...most likely. Rambling, download.

SINGLE: EAST OF EDEN (2009)
DEMO: 2005 DEMO (2005)
EP: PLAGUES (2008)
ALBUM: TRASH TALK (2008)

Aerosols - Discography

Genre: Hardcore / Punk / Powerviolence
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Cult Ritual, The Repos, Nazi Dust

Aerosols is a hardcore band hailing out of western MA and has members from Ampere and Wasteland. I'd recommend them to anyone who enjoys raw hardcore music, and Youth Attack bands in general. They always seem to bring something harder and more fucking insane then your everyday run of the mill hardcore band. This is the full discography, as far as I know at least. The 4 EP's and the self-titled release. Have fun with this angry music, sonny. Happy New Year!!!

The Hated - Collected Works (1985-1989)

Genre: Emo
Website: n/a
For Fans Of: Moss Icon, Rites of Spring, R.E.M.

Okay, let's get one thing straight.

The Hated are cooler than you.

Now that that's out of the way, you're prepared to listen to one of the first, and most original emo bands. The Hated do not sound stereotypically emo, although their early material definitely has a clear punk edge. The Hated took what was great about the "Revolution Summer" DC bands and added an alt rock element that is equal parts latter-day Husker Du and early R.E.M. The vocals are strained and heartfelt, the lyrics socially conscious, and the music driving, catchy and mesmerizing. Simply put, this is the coolest thing you could have been listening to in the 80s, and still is today.

The Hated are a classic example of a criminally overlooked band that influenced so many artists. Listening closely, you can hear the seeds of what would become the first wave of popular emo (Sunny Day Real Estate, etc). Although SDRE probably weren't hip enough to have even heard the Hated. These guys are an emo-roots band that managed to be extremely progressive with the sound of the scene.

The collection I have posted here contains every song they have ever done. These are not vinyl rips. This music comes straight from the master tapes. I have no idea who put this online, but I love them. This will probably never be officially released, but Stormy over at Blogged and Quartered came up with some great album artwork/tracklistings.

Elliott Smith - Discography

Genre: Singer-Songwriter
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Spidery vocals and fingerpicked guitar

Anybody that knows me will know that I absolutely adore Elliott Smith. If you don't know this little bit of information about me then you probably don't know me. Because I do. He didn't write a single bad song. Well, not that I'm aware of. He is arguably the most consistent artist ever, regardless of how my friend qwe feels about Opeth. I think I might stop before I go overboard on the fanboyism, he's quite probably my favourite musical artist of all time, in case you hadn't noticed. It sucks he's dead. Which unfortunately he is. I blame his girlfriend. But shh. I didn't say that. Regardless, this is required listening time. You are required to listen to at least one of these albums. If you don't like it, well, I fear you may not have a soul.

ALBUM: ELLIOTT SMITH - ROMAN CANDLE (1994)
ALBUM: ELLIOTT SMITH - ELLIOTT SMITH (1995)
ALBUM: ELLIOTT SMITH - EITHER/OR (1997)

Cursed - Discography

Genre: Hardcore/Crust
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Trap Them, Coliseum, Rise And Fall

Cursed were (in my opinion) one of the best hardcore bands of all time. They were passionate, incredibly angry and pretty much hated everything. What's not to like? Honestly, these guys ruled so hard and would have continued ruling hard if some fucking asshole hadn't come along and robbed all their fucking stuff. As their vocalist stated, this was like a "bullet in the head". Fuck. On the plus side, at least Cursed left us three awesome albums of abrasive hardcore before they split, creatively titled I, II and III. Well, technically the last album is called III: Architects of Troubled Sleep or something like that, but whatever. Oh and surprise surprise - they all rule face! My personal favourites are probably the first two releases, since on the last one they took a sludgier, heavier approach which is still fucking great and certainly no less angry. I guess I just prefer the faster, more abrasive side to them. Either way, here are all their full-length albums. Check them out, get your face kicked in, enjoy.

ALBUM: CURSED - I
ALBUM: CURSED - II
ALBUM: CURSED - III: ARCHITECTS OF TROUBLED SLEEP

Discography - Blind Guardian

Epic metal at its finest, Blind Guardian, is the epitome of a 'Fantasy Metal' band. Their songs are filled with farieys, trolls, ors, goblins, wizards and everything in between. Blind Guardian is known for being heavily influenced by the works of JRR Tolkien; acctually writing an entire album (Nightfall in Middle Earth) off of Tolkiens The Silmarilliaon. If you aren't one to handle fantasey lyrics, Blind Gardian are also stellar musicians. Awesome metal drums and amazing guitar work. A friend and I often describe Blind Guardian as having a rythem guitar and a 'talking' guitar, becuase, in their later works, Andre Olbrich pretty much plays a solo the entire song. Speaking of solo's Blind Guardian is filled with some pretty awesome ones. Now, BG has been around forever, releasing their first album in 1988, so their is a pretty big change from then till now. They have done a great job fitting with the times. They sound like 80's metal in the 80's and modern metal today. If you have never listened to Blind Guardian, and I have somehow managed to get you atleast a bit interested, I would strongly suggest you check out Night at the Opera and Nightfall in Middle Earth; which are my two favorite albums by far. Aside from that, here is a complete studio discography for Blind Guardian.

BATTALIONS OF FEAR [1988]

FOLLOW THE BLIND [1989]

TALES FROM A TWILIGHT WORLD [1990]

Killswitch Engage - Discography

While Killswitch isn't exactly a metalhead's favorite band, I sure do enjoy them. Some people think their shit isn't heavy enough, but whatever, I dig it for sure. I grew up listening to this band from freshman year of high school onward. I remember one of my friends burned me a disc with a bunch of metal songs on it during sophomore year and it had a few Killswitch on it along with a Children of Bodom and Shadows Fall song (that I can recall at this point). Anywho, Killswitch has a very normal, everyday approach to playing metalcore , but I really think Howard Jones makes them what they are. The guitar work is fucking awesome in my opinion and does a great job at being technical yet catchy and shows great mastering of the instrument, but Howard's voice does this band so much justice. I do enjoy their first two albums w/o him, but they're just not the same. He really rounds out the group for me. They are releasing an album in June, so be on the lookout for that, but until then, here's all their other stuff:

ALBUM: ALIVE OR JUST BREATHING [Mediafire]
ALBUM: ALIVE OR JUST BREATHING [BONUS DISC] [Mediafire]

Blink-182 - Discography

Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is the ENTIRE collection of Blink-182. Everything from Flyswatter and their 2nd, untitled, demo to their self-titled album and EVERYTHING in between. I may be missing a few random live tracks that were bonus' on certain singles, but almost anything that is official is here. If you know of a particular song that I am missing and exactly what album/single/promo it belongs to, shoot me an e-mail (matrocksteady@gmail.com) with it's exact name and such and I'll search around for it.

This band is the entire reason I love music. I don't know what I would do without them. I am so glad they are back, but I do hope their new album isn't a disappointment, but I'll definitely be seeing them on tour this summer. Stoked for that. All the catchy hooks and whiney 90's pop punk-ness is just pure amazing. I used to know almost all of their material on guitar, and could probably learn it all again within a few days. If you don't listen to this band, you probably should. If you haven't heard of this band, you live under a rock. Totally proud of having all of this in perfect order and named in my iTunes library. It's a beautiful sight when it's all perfectly labeled in it's ID3 tags like I have it with all the album artwork too. If I had to pick a favorite blink-182 song, it would probably be "Reckless Abandon" or "Alien's Exist", but I love all of blink's stuff. Here we go:

Dance Gavin Dance - Discography

Genre: Post-Hardcore
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/dancegavindance

Dance Gavin Dance are one of my favourite bands, I just love how the guitars harmonise most of the time and how the guitarists play off each other. Then there are the vocals, their former vocalist Johnny Craig (now in Emarosa) just has the most amazing vocals on Downtown Battle Mountain, I absolutely love them. Unfortunately he was kicked out afterwards due to various drink and drug problems, but thankfully this didn't turn out so bad since his replacement is almost as good! The only thing that irks me about this band is that the screamed vocals are kind of subpar, but the guy that was screaming for them, Jon Mess, has left and one of the guitarists is screaming now who sounds pretty cool. I'm super excited for their new release this year titled "Happiness", can't wait!

Portishead - Discography

Portishead is one of my favorite artists. About as far away from metal as you can get, their first album, Dummy, is honestly one of my favorite albums of all time. Beth Gibbons voice is the high point on the album. Their songs are able to really relax you, yet creep you out at the same time. Hard to explain, but once you listen you will understand. Check them out and buy some merch so they have reason to make their fourth album!

System of a Down - Discogrpahy

Last night I was at an Attack Attack!/Escape the Fate (worst concert I've ever been to, but that's another story) and between the set they began playing System of a Down and I was brought back to when I first discovered music. SOAD was my first real 'Favorite Band' and my first real concert (and still, to this day, one of the best I've ever been to). The combo of Serj Tankian's beautiful voice and awkward lyrics, matched with the rest of the bands, simple, yet unique sound make for a truley exciting experiance. None of these players are masters of their instruments, but they make songs that you enjoy every second of. System of a Down was a fanstastic band and I hope with all my heart that they pull a Blink-182 and come back from the dead. Check them out. Buy their CD's. Bring them back.

Olivia (mini) Album Discography

Olivia, a half Japanese half German-American girl born in Japan, started her singing career in some crappy Jpop group in the 90s. But she's come a long way, and has now gained a huge fanbase due in part to her prominent role in the making of the soundtrack for the anime adaptation of the manga series, Nana. In general, her musical style is edgy mixed with... dainty-ness? It's very doll-like and whimsical. Along with her albums, I'll post the World's End Girlfriend remix of the song If You Only Knew from The Cloudy Dreamer mini album. Enjoy!

Disturbed - Discography

I had a request for this so I decided to put it up. Disturbed was a major musical influence on me...pulling me into the 'heavier' side of music so to speak. I prefer their albums in the order listed below, which is also their order of release. The Sickness has a more of a rap less of a mainstream band feel, while Believe has more emotion than any of their albums. Remember off of the Believe album is, in my opinion, one of Distrubed's best songs, and one of my all time favorites. Ten Thousand Fists was a solid record which ultimately changed them into the mainstream machine they are today. Indestructible was a far from satisfying album, and I continue to find a truly likable song. Sad to say I think Disturbed has past their prime...but there is no reason we cant listen to the past.
