Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) play a beautiful, melancholic form of indie with a definite nod towards the midwest emo sound, I imagine they're certainly avid fans of the pioneering sound of American Football. They also have one mouthful of a name, it's almost certainly meaningless but I like to think there's some reason behind the choice. I guess it sounds kind of cool. Regardless of the name, this is one of the prettiest albums I've heard all year. The slowly intertwining guitars and soft croon of vocalist Keith Latinen just give it a really distinct sense of innocence and it almost brings me back to feeling like a child again (as cliché as that might sound). By no means is this a bad thing though, it's just so pretty and ah, I can't really explain it. I really like it. So you might too. Probably. Hit it up.
