Pygmy Lush just so happen to contain ex-members of Pg.99 and City of Caterpillar. I'm fairly sure this is reason enough to check them out, after all, both those bands fucking rule face. Except the thing is, Pygmy Lush don't really sound anything like them. Sure, on their previous release they still had some screamo and hardcore bits, but with Mount Hope this is pretty much all gone. The question is - what are we left with? Well, a really quite solid folk record, but with a bit of a different approach. I don't know what it is, but something about this album just seems really sincere and intimate - lyrically it's pretty damn dark, but there's something in the acoustic finger picking that seems, I'm not sure, brighter I guess? I can't really explain it so I'll just stop before I completely mess up. So yes, if you want to hear what your favourite (or my favourite) screamo bands have been doing since their breakup, then check it out. Or if you're into some really melancholic folk stuff too. Hell, I wasted a few minutes of my life writing this, that means it's automatically worth checking out.
