You've all heard of The Dillinger Escape Plan, am I correct in assuming this? Well if not, you should have, because they're all kinds of awesome. Like, literally. If I were going to try and describe their sound I'd probably go along the lines of progressive jazzy metalcore stuff or something. But I'm not going to try because that would be stupid. Needless to say they're fairly unconventional when it comes to musical techniques, with their fast, technically proficient style being labelled by fans as mathcore. Yeah, sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it? Did I mention they're ridiculously technically proficient? Because they are. Not even in a showy-off guitar wankery way. It's more rhythm based and just, ugh, I don't know what I'm saying. Needless to say if you haven't already (which I'm betting you have if you're a fan of any -core music at all) then give this a try now. Oh, it's also intense as fuck. Think of a really violent analogy like "flying through the front of your car's windscreen after being hit by the full force of a Jumbo Jet and getting impaled on a forklift truck". Okay, that sucked, come up with something better yourself. But yeah, this album is like that. Sweet.
