For Fans Of: Hella, Maps & Atlases, Giraffes? Giraffes!
Two ridiculously good math rock bands make one ridiculously good split. It's original, absurdly technical, catchy and ultimately a damn good listen with both bands clearly displaying their inventiveness and talent. By The End Of Tonight probably produced the best material of their career on this split, the musicianship is just incredible, the guitarwork is incredibly precise and the drumming is just out of this world, not to mention the production is near perfect, each instrument has it's own space and really compliment each other. The Tera Melos side is phenomenal as well, as a band they've progressed beyond their crazy math rock, post-hardcore-ish sound and instead opting to include more indie influences, but keeping all the ridiculous technicality as well and ultimately ending up with an absurdly catchy and addictive mix of awesomeness. As a whole the album is a haunting trip through complex mathy passages and drawn out atmospherics, all washed through with a very ethereal feel, much like the album title would suggest. I'm also pretty sure it's impossible not to like this record. Hear that? Impossible.
