Stray From The Path - Villains (2008)

Genre: Chaotic Hardcore/Metalcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Duck Duck Goose, A Textbook Tragedy, Botch

Stray From The Path play a vicious blend of chaotic hardcore or metalcore along with a whole bunch of other influences that would probably make for either a mess of noise or something really damn cool. Villains falls somewhere in between the two, although I'd put it closer to the really damn cool side. They make use of grinding, angular riffing in a similar vein to Botch while coupling it up with insane shrieks and howls over the top. As an album it's very short (just over 20 minutes long) with each song being short and snappy, dripping with rage and building up on this anger, coming awfully close to tearing the listener's head off before bringing it all back under control. Fancy a truly intense listen? Give it a try.

  3. They were insane. I had never heard them before so I was pleasantly surprised. They played "Bulls on Parade" along with a buncha originals. I liked every song they played.
