American Football - American Football

Genre: Indie/Emo
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Owen, Cap'n Jazz, Algernon Cadwallader

The only full-length album that American Football ever released was this, which in my opinion is a real shame since it's really damn good. They play something akin to the midwestern indie/emo movement, the main man of American Football, Mike Kinsella, was the bassist of Cap'n Jazz, and you can clearly hear the influences there. They play in a very relaxed fashion and this gives me a really chill vibe, with minimalistic guitarwork (lots of lovely fingerpicking) and ultimately a very feel-good atmosphere on the whole. One thing that can be said about this album is the sheer emotional value, every note rings true with emotion, whether that be love, regret or even heartache, which ultimately may well result in leaving you in tears towards the end. You can really symphasise with it and I find it really moving. As a whole this is a really chill and emotionally moving listen, perfectly catching the feeling of a long summers day. Now listen to it and love it.
