The Armed - These Are Lights (2009)

Genre: Metalcore/Chaotic Hardcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Botch, Coalesce, Stray From The Path

The Armed play a style of chaotic metalcore that sounds to me a bit like of Converge and Every Time I Die had a child and then somehow it was influenced by Botch and The Dillinger Escape Plan and I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this, but I can assure you it all comes together to make an awesome record that I really quite enjoy listening to. It's produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge (he's a busy man) and is being given out by the band for free since "people would just steal it anyways", which is probably true. I mean, that's what you're here for, right? Well not only are these guys awesome at the frenetic, intense style of metalcore but they also mix it up with the odd softer interlude that works really well and helps to split up the album and give it a really good flow, it doesn't get boring at any point throughout. So check it out, I mean, these guys are nice enough to give it to you for free, you can at least give it a listen, can't you?
