Sinking Steps...Rising Eyes - Majestic Blue (2004)

Genre: Post-Rock/Screamo
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Her Breath On Glass, Mesa Verde, I Create

Sinking Steps...Rising Eyes are one of the prettiest screamo bands I've come across (well, they're arguably more post-rock than anything else). Most of the time Majestic Blue is very dreamy and relaxing, starting with the sound of the lapping sea and building up in a post-rock style to climax with, yep, you guessed it, screamy bits. One thing that strikes me about it is how organic and life-like it is, there's a bunch of less conventional instruments used throughout, such as the flute and the melodica apparently (what even is a melodica?), as well as the use of both male and female vocals, although keep in mind that vocals are only used very sparingly on this release. It's a beautiful piece of music and definitely worth your time if you're a fan of post-rock, since the screamo parts are kept to minimum.
