Shining are a 'depressive suicidal black metal' band. Obviously that's a fucking stupid term and nobody is ever going to use that seriously, or at least I hope not anyway. It sounds pretty cool though, I might compare them in some senses to a black metal Opeth in that they have lots of pretty acoustic passages in between their more black-metally parts. The vocalist isn't really all that great, but he's pretty okay outside of the clean vocals. They're pretty awful in all fairness. Don't let that turn you off though this is really cool, with GUITAR SOLOS and a really dark, depressing atmosphere. Emphasis on the 'depressing' part however, these guy aren't the most cheery of people in the world. Regardless it's a cool listen if you're feeling low and want something to emphasise with. /end bullshit.
