'Swoon' is a culmination of everything awesome the genre of indie has to offer. It has shoegaze-y restrained songs with airy vocals and fantastic climaxes, it has fast-paced bass-driven grunge anthems and it has - naturally - the token, catchy indie summer song. A lot of the songs on 'Swoon' are so dense and well-developed that I don't even know what to make of it, it's like being afloat in a messy sea of fuzzy distortion and reverb without ever drowning. Silversun Pickups never get too overbearing; 'Swoon' will not asphyxiate you with its grimy brilliance, but it sure as hell will come close.
Except the first song sucks, sorry.
