What We All Come To Need is the fourth full-length from Chicago's post-metal outfit Pelican. Now if I'm honest I've never been much of a Pelican fan, I suppose I always found them a bit boring, I guess it's just my inability to concentrate on anything for more than a couple of minutes. I don't know. As a result I don't really know their back catalogue much so I can't really compare what this is like to previous stuff, but it sounds pretty good to me. They've got a nice crunchy guitar sound and a bit of a rock-and-roll vibe in some of the riffs. The album also features guest spots from members of Sunn O))) and Isis, the latter contributing vocals to one of the tracks (I believe this is a first for the band, it also happens to be my favourite track on the album). So yeah, cool stuff, even if it is a little bit on the bland side.
