Liked the new August Burns Red album? Well then pretty sure you'll love The Illusion of Democracy. Refused to like the new August Burns Red album because they're too popular for your elitist asshole taste in music? Yeah, me too. However reader, fear not, for Reflux might just be underground enough for you to enjoy it at least marginally. They feature Tosin Abasi or whatever his name is on guitar. Yeah, you know, that one guy in Animals As Leaders who pretty much masturbated his guitar for an entire album. Well this isn't as technical as his aforementioned sort-of-solo-project-thing but the guitarwork is still all over the place, in between the breakdowns and nicely placed softer sections, but it's done fairly tastefully unlike a lot of technical bands which makes for a nice change. Don't get me wrong though, this isn't all about the guitars - the other band members definitely show a great deal of talent as well and rip it up throughout. Apparently the lyrics are political and socially conscious or something. I mean, if you're into that kind of thing. I don't really listen to lyrics in metalcore much. It's all rargh rargh rargh and breakdowns.
