So there are actually two bands called Oceans, one of these bands plays instrumental post-rock stuff and the other plays melodic hardcore. What these two bands have in common (apart from the name) is that they're both pretty much awesome. The Great Divide is the debut album from the latter of the two bands (melodic hardcore if you hadn't already figured it out) and is a really solid release, the band are clearly passionate about what they play, they seriously feel strongly about fighting for what they believe in and really take this belief to heart. As a result, they decided to give this album out for free, which is a really cool gesture - particularly since the album itself is really quite good (noticing a pattern here with really great free releases this year, The Armed anyone?). I actually really like the softer, melodic interludes on this, they're really beautiful and I kind of wish there was more of them, but even so, the fairly typical melodic hardcore sound is done very well here and is definitely worth giving a try.
