Ours Will Be A Lonely Battle is a breathtaking EP from the 'collective' Serena Joy. Yeah - they're not a band, they're a 'collective'. This EP is split up into four movements, moving through sound to sound, at points displaying obvious screamo roots (I'm talking 90s screamo here) and onto beautiful ambient post-rock sections, mixing up the raw screaming with harmonious female singing and choruses, with the record ending with a drawn-out spoken word section, intensifying as it goes along like a stream of consciousness. All the tracks intertwine and build up, floating along beautiful guitar lines and harmonies that schizophrenically explode into glorious climaxes, seriously, it's just so beautiful and epic, I love it. I really hope these guys release more stuff in the future, this lone EP simply isn't enough for me!
