With Snacks Kidcrash have taken a slightly softer, less chaotic route in comparison to their previous works, eschewing some of their screamo tendencies in favour of a more noodly, math-rock sound. And you know what? It still fucking rules. The technicality is awesome, the guitars intertwine and play off each other and it just works so well, not to mention the tone of the guitars themselves is pretty much fantastic, it sound great. So yes, another jazzy, technical piece of brilliance from these guys. Also the production is definitely an improvement to the previous release Jokes, the guitars sound much more melodic and, well, for want of a better word - noodly. Honestly? I have no idea what I'm talking about. Just check it out before I make an idiot of myself, you'll love it, I promise.

The Kidcrash effectively blend the sound of every single screamo band I can think of into one lump of awesomeness. They includes bits of chaotic screamo, more math-rock influenced sections that wouldn't be amiss on a Don Caballero CD and also the more indie influenced emo sound pioneered by Cap'n Jazz that all flow seamlessly into one another. The only flaw in this album is the production, it just doesn't really suit their sound and I can't help but think this would sound so much better if it was more polished, but this isn't really a huge problem and the fantastic instrumentation and songwriting more than make up for this.
