Irepress's second disc is just as good as their last, if not better. Sol Eye Sea I does experiment much more than Samus Octology, adding a keyboardist, some synths, and even various vocals (the vocals are used in minimum to make this a mostly-instrumental release). All the elements are still present from Samus Octology: the tremolo guitar melodies, the metalcore riffs, the dynamics, etc. Overall Sol Eye Sea I is an excellent post-rock album. Get it.

Irepress is an interesting band to say the least. They can pull off relaxing, heavy, almost epic music in their eight-track debut album. Samus Octology really does show the band's ability to fuse dissonance, thick-layered distortion, ambience, dynamics, and feedback. The atmosphere is in a way similar to what you would get from Deftones's Saturday Night Wrist, just without the vocals. This band isn't your common generic post-rock band, their overall sound is very original. A must-have if your a fan of the genre.
