Daitro - Y (2009)

Genre: Screamo/Post-Rock
Website: http://www.daitro.com/
For Fans Of: Sed Non Satiata, Raein, La Quiete

Daitro return to the screamo scene with another delightful post-rocky screamo release and surprise, surprise - it rules. It's beautiful, melodic, epic and a whole host of other such words that I would continue to list out if I had the patience or vocabulary to do so. I think the French scene might currently be my favourite when it comes to screamo bands, I just love how they're more melodic and just so damn pretty. Bands like these guys, Sed Non Satiata and even the more atmospheric, kind of post-metal-ish Aussitot Mort (all from France) are really pushing the screamo sound to new territories and I love it. With that aside, this album is fantastic, although I'm not sure why they decided to call it "Y". I guess they must have some deep and meaningful reason for doing so, although it's currently beyond me. Anyway, enjoy.

Daitro/Sed Non Satiata - Split (2008)

Genre: Screamo/Post-Rock
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/daitro

Two of the leading bands of the current wave of french screamo decided to record a split and what do you know? It just so happened to turn out awesome. Both bands showcase their brilliance and execute their own niche of the genre near-perfectly, Daitro following a slightly more aggressive approach to the genre and Sed Non Satiata deciding to take it more slowly and steadily, crafting epic build-ups post-rock style. I might be slightly biased as I love this style of more melodic, epic screamo but to be honest, both bands are really good at what they do and as a result this split is also really, really good. Isn't that a coincidence? Listen and enjoy.

Nice nice nice.
