ABLE BAKER FOX - VOICES (2008)

Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Small Brown Bike, The Casket Lottery, Controlling The Famous
For sho. Like Small Brown Bike? How bout The Casket Lottery? If so, then that's cool. Just thought I'd ask, haha. Able Baker Fox is composed of members from both bands. And what a combo. Very interesting music here. A solid indie foundation layered with some raw post-punk. And on top of that, the choruses are hella catchy. Yea, I used hella. This cd is a must have for people with a knack for feel-good music. I don't know what else to say about this cd besides GET IT.

OPEN HAND - YOU AND ME (2005)

Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Codeseven, Hopesfall, Cave In
Probably one of the most underrated albums ever. Open Hand is one of kind, that's for sure. They have that classic rock 'n' roll feel but when the vocals come in...mmm...yea. The singing is so smooth. There are some tracks that are a little boring, but the good songs are GOOD. I don't know if there is a girl actually in the band, but a chick does do some vocals in a couple of songs. It's not bad. If you wanna hear something new, I highly encourage you to give this a spin.

ONLY THUNDER - LOWER BOUNDS (2008)Genre: Progressive/Post-Punk
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Hot Water Music, Polar Bear Club, Propaghandi
One of my favorite bands at the moment. They give you a variety of sound. From straight foward melodic punk, to random, almost post-rock instrumentals. The vocals are very similiar to Hot Water Music and Propaghandi and the music reminds me a lot of Polar Bear Club. The instrumental song, "I'm A Witch, Burn Me", is EPIC. So great. I think it's the first instrumental song that has ever gotten stuck in my head. I don't even have to use this last sentence to tell you to get this cd, you've already clicked the link.

HOT WATER MUSIC - THE NEW WHAT NEXT (2004)Genre: Melodic Punk/Rock/Indie
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: The Draft, Small Brown Bike, Avail
If you don't have any Hot Water Music on your computer, then you should be ashamed. They're like, one of those bands that all punk bands look up to cause they helped start it all. I say "helped" cause there were many bands in the Hot Water era spreading their punk rock wings. But they had bit of a different approach. I mean, the music is definately punk, but they add their own touch to make it stand out from the rest. Comon...Chuck Ragan? The dude is legendary. I think this album is their finest. Everything is there. I believe when Hopesfall changed direction, this cd was their reason why. Don't believe me? Listen to "The End Of The Line" and tell me they didn't rip some sound off of it. I can't stress this enough, listen to this cd.

POLAR BEAR CLUB - CHASING HAMBURG (2009)Genre: Melodic Punk/Indie/Post-hardcore
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Crime In Stereo, Shook Ones, Latterman
Man, those for fans of bands aren't even close. Those are just bands that wish they could pull off what PBC does. Haha, still love those bands though! Ok, after I heard their last album "Sometimes Things Just Disappear", I didn't think they could produce another album that perfect. But they did. I wouldn't say it's better, but it's definately one of the best releases of 2009. In a world full of bands with ridiculous names and ridiculous music, Polar Bear Club has fought it's way to the top and put an end to the trend. Well...not really, but I wish! To each his own though, but if you want to hear REAL men make REAL music, then get your arse in gear and pick this up. I don't need to describe this album in depth, it speaks for itself. You'll see.
