Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime (1994)

Genre: Post-Hardcore/Post-Punk
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: Unwound, The Nation of Ulysses, Fugazi

Drive Like Jehu were, to put it bluntly, amazing. It's honestly difficult to believe this album was released way back in 1994. Yank Crime is frighteningly intense and complex, making use of tight technical guitar riffs and frantic yelps from the vocalist. This album was definitely a huge influence on the modern-day post-hardcore/emo scene, what with thousands of imitators cropping up that were kind of sucky in comparison (not really sucky as such, just somewhat inferior). Whatever, this album doesn't require comparisons just listen to it and enjoy it, or if you're stupid then don't enjoy it, I don't much care. It's good.

  1. Damm this one brings me back, to like jr high.
If it wasn't fo these guys, and bands like Unwound, I might have never gotten into hardcore, emo, or screemo. WOW! Searously though. Jehu is like emo before there ever was emo.
Drive Like Jehu is actually all, if not most, of the members from Rocket From The Crypt. I think they just put out 2 albums under the Jehu name for some reason or another. I, personally like Jehu way more than RFTC, but thats just me.
If you havent allready, you should check out Jehus self titled album, I think I like it more than this one.
Thanks for the great post, and the stroll down memory lane.
