The Constellation Branch - The Dream Life, The Real Life, The Empty Glass... (2008)

Genre: Indie Rock/Progressive
Website: Myspace
For Fans Of: The Dear Hunter, My Epic, Kiss Kiss

The Constellation Branch play an atmospheric, emotive form of indie rock, which has this lovely lulling almost post-rock-ish feeling however at the same time there are these punchy sections with nods towards more of a post-hardcore influenced sound. It's really relaxing and I like how they make use of slightly less orthodox instrumentation throughout, much like The Dear Hunter with violins and piano parts along with glockenspiel at times (I think. I hope so anyway. I have a bit of a soft spot for glockenspiel in songs). Regardless this is a very well put together release and I have to say I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would going into it, I have a tendency to be super-critical when bands send me stuff, but this is really quite good.

  1. I think I remember looking into these guys on myspace a while back and enjoying a few songs, but I couldn' find their album. Cool stuff.
