Maths first caught my attention on their split with another british band, Throats. At the time I thought they were very solid, however if I'm entirely honest nothing all that special. Fast forward however many years and here we have a full-length by the band - Descent. First impressions? That is a pretty damn cool album cover. All sorts of intertwining branches or roots or whatever they are. I like artwork like that. It's a good sign. Then I went about listening to the album itself. What exactly was I greeted with? Soaring melodic sections and raw visceral parts along with lots of lovely emotion. Screamo fans, pay attention - it's good.
