Record Store Day - Vinyl Saturday

This past April the world celebrated its 3rd Record Store Day, a nod to the thousands of independent record stores in the U.S. and around the world. The holiday has been celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of every April (Since 2007...). And even though it was founded by Chris Brown, the holiday itself is really awesome. In Chicago there we small, mid-day, in-store concerts all over the city along with tons of marked down or free merchandise and music.

The only downside is that Saturday in April comes but once a year. Good news though! The Record Store Day Group has announced Vinyl Saturday, to happen this Saturday the 17th nationwide. Hundreds of stored have jumped on board and will be releasing several rare, 7" albums including:

WILCO: "You Never Know" and "Unlikely Japan"
(a version of "Impossible Germany," never released).

GREEN DAY: A numbered, vinyl version of the single,
“Know Your Enemy” b/w “Hearts Collide” (ne'r released)

PETE YORN / SCARLETT JOHANSSON: “Relator”,
the single (from their upcoming record BREAK UP)
b/w “I Don’t Know What To Do” (a Pete Yorn demo)

MODEST MOUSE: Second in a series of 7” singles,
leading up to their new CD. “Autumn Beds” b/w “Whale Song”

If you're in Orlando this Saturday, as I will be, Park Ave. CD's on Corrine Dr. and Rock N' Roll Heaven on Orange Ave. are both participating. If not, check the site below for participating stores and for more info.
